Scottsdale Bible Church mens leadership team believes that nothing has the power to transform the world more than discipling men. It is for this reason that they hold the ministry philosophy of No Man Left Behind.Disciples are those who are called to walk with Christ, equipped to live like Christ and sent to work for Christ (1 Tim 3:15-17)For more details, check out their website: http://scottsdalebible.com/ministries/men

Mens Ministry Is No Longer - Men Only

    January 19th, 2010

One of the easiest-to-understand concepts in the No Man Left Behind model is the “all inclusive mindset.” It’s simple. If you have 100 men in your church, then the size of your men’s ministry is 100.One of the hardest-to-implement concepts in the No Man Left Behind model is the ”all inclusive mindset.” Sure, you get it. But the rest of the leadership team in your church is not on board.

The problem is that men’s ministry has traditionally been thought of as “men only” groups and events. Some leaders just can’t conceive how a couple’s small group can be considered men’s ministry if women are there! But in the all-inclusive concept, “wherever” men are being discipled - that’s men’s ministry….from the worship service to the family fellowship dinner. Here’s an idea. Start communicating that the name of your church is also the name of your men’s ministry. It doesn’t literally have to be the same, but you can use this idea to make a point. From the front, announce that, “Our men’s ministry is not just a silo of “men only” groups and events off to the side, although they too are included, but it’s everything we do in our church that touches men’s lives, even if it takes place with couples or families ministries. For example, this worship service should also be considered men’s ministry.” Then add, “The name of our church is (First Church of Paducah) AND the name of our men’s ministry is (First Church of Paducah).”

    Focus on Disciple Making

    November 17th, 2009

The Bible tells us to make disciples, but I think some churches and ministries get confused. They think the verse says, “Go and make workers . . . browbeating them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.True disciples become workers out of the overflow of their growing relationship with Christ. So, the Bible doesn’t tell us to “make workers,” but rather to “pray for workers.” Jesus told His disciples, “The harvest is so great, and the workers are so few. So pray to the one in charge of the harvesting and ask him to recruit more workers . . .” (Matthew 9:37-38, TLB).More…Excerpted from Equipping the Man in the Mirror Devotional. (November 23, 2009)
